Team Kamkwamba Force wins Maiden edition of Community Impact Project at LDTP Accra

Kamkwamba Force rose to the top, emerging as the proud CIP Project Winners.

The Kamkwamba Force, a team formed at the Leadership Diary Training Program (LDTP) 2025 Accra, has emerged as the Winner of the maiden edition of the Community Impact Project (CIP).

The team topped the competition after undergoing extensive research, community consultations, proposal development, and a competitive pitching process that evaluated feasibility, sustainability, and long-term community value.

Their project stood out clearly for its urgency, innovation, and potential to transform an entire neighborhood.

The team designed a community safety and development initiative focused on installing streetlights along the Numawose Road and its tributaries at Sakumono Estate, within the Tema West Municipal Assembly. For years, the road has suffered from deepening darkness due to neglect and lack of funds, making it risky and difficult to travel after sunset. Their project seeks to restore security and visibility along the full stretch of the road by installing modern, durable, and energy-efficient streetlights.

Beyond improving visibility, the team highlighted the broader implications of a well-lit community. Proper lighting reduces accidents, enhances safety for schoolchildren, supports movement for drivers and pedestrians, deters crime, and allows businesses to operate without fear.

Their project represents a renewed commitment to the dignity and wellbeing of every resident who calls the area home.

Speaking on the significance of their initiative, the team shared, “These lights are more than bulbs, they are beacons of hope, safety, and progress. By lighting this road, we are proving that young people can transform communities through practical problem-solving and leadership.”

The statement shows their mission-driven passion and belief in youth-led development.

As the overall winners of the maiden edition of the CIP, the Kamkwamba Force will receive a grant to support the implementation of their project. They will also receive mentorship and technical guidance to help them manage partnerships, expand their proposal, and ensure smooth execution and sustainability. This support package positions them to deliver real, measurable impact in the Tema West community.

The Community Impact Project for LDTP Accra is proudly sponsored by Cargill, whose support has made it possible for young leaders to translate ideas into actionable solutions. Their contribution has strengthened the vision of empowering young people to engage in community development and leadership.

The CIP was introduced as part of the 2025 LDTP under the theme “Igniting the Future: Youth Leading Global Change.” It challenges participants to identify pressing community needs, design solutions, write proposals, and pitch their projects, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world leadership. Through this, LDTP participants are trained to think critically, lead collaboratively, and take responsibility for national development.

By cultivating civic responsibility, problem-solving, teamwork, and patriotism, the CIP serves as a pipeline for innovative youth-led interventions. The maiden edition has shown that when young people are equipped and empowered, they can identify genuine community needs and create viable, impactful responses.

Team Kamkwamba Force’s victory demonstrates leadership in action, community transformation, and the boldness to ignite change. Their project is not just lighting a road; it is lighting the way for more young leaders to rise and build The Africa We Want.

For 13 years, the Leadership Diary Training Program, organized by Youth Arise Organization, has provided a platform for young leaders to create solutions for their communities. At the 2025 Accra edition, Kamkwamba Force rose to the top, emerging as the proud CIP Project Winners.
