SEN STEM and AI Conference 2026: 72 Young Innovators Choose to Build

The Context: Why This Conference Matters

We did not just write about that gap. We decided to do something about it. The SEN STEM and AI Conference 2026 was one step in that direction.

Opening: A Charge to Stop Spectating

The conference opened with a charge from our Chairman, Moses Baffour Awuah, Global CEO of Youth Arise Organization. His message was direct: every person in that room had a choice between being an active part of changing Africa’s innovation story or remaining a spectator of it. He made clear which choice he expected of them.

The Keynote: We Owe Our Existence to Creators and Inventors

The keynote address was delivered by Emmanuel Arthur, CEO of Ramsys InfoTech Solutions Ltd. His central observation was both simple and profound:

“We owe our very existence to creators and inventors.” — Emmanuel Arthur, CEO, Ramsys InfoTech Solutions Ltd

That line did not land as a motivational phrase. It landed as a statement of reality — and one that set the tone for everything that followed. Every road, every medicine, every device in the room existed because someone had decided to build something. The challenge for everyone present was to decide what they would build.

The Panel: Four Voices Already Building

A panel discussion brought together four practitioners who are not waiting for the right moment to create:

  • Teacher Aboagye — Co-Founder, APRIL STEM
  • Nana Dwomoh — African Chamber of Content Creators and Co-Founder, APRIL STEM
  • James Christian Aidoo — Programs Officer, Youth Bridge Foundation
  • Selassie Kofi Sepenu — Founder, Integrion AI and Level 300 Student, University of Ghana

The panel covered what it actually takes to build in Ghana — the frustrations, the breakthroughs, and the choices that separate people who build from those who only plan to. Selassie Sepenu’s observation during the discussion cut through the noise: innovation does not have to start with a grand idea. The small, daily problems around you are exactly the problems worth solving.

The SIC 2026 Launch: From Idea to Innovation in Five Months

The afternoon marked the official launch of the SEN Innovation Challenge (SIC) 2026 — a five-month programme designed to take tertiary student teams from idea to working STEM-based solution. SIC 2026 includes two innovation bootcamps, structured mentorship, and a Deal Room presentation opportunity where top teams present to stakeholders who can bring their ideas to life.

Participants broke into four innovation labs representing the programme’s focus areas:

  • AgriTech & Climate
  • FinTech & Digital Economy
  • EdTech & Community Development
  • HealthTech & Everyday Wellness

These are starting points, not restrictions. Any community challenge qualifies, as long as the solution is built using STEM principles. Twelve teams registered for SIC on the day itself — before the conference had even closed.

Closing: The Masterclass and a Challenge for 2027

The day closed with a masterclass facilitated by Richard Sarkodie of Medulla Digital, with the Q&A moderated by Ray Nkum, CEO of Medulla Digital. The session gave participants the practical tools and frameworks to carry their ideas forward.

Chairman Moses Baffour Awuah closed the conference with a challenge: that next year’s conference will feature an innovation showcase of completed works from SIC 2026 participants. The bar has been set.

What Comes Next

To our Chairman, keynote speaker, panelists, breakout facilitators, the SEN team, and every young person who showed up on 6 March — thank you. You are the reason this happened.

We wrote about Africa’s innovation gap. Now we are doing something about it — one team at a time.
